Cambodia-UN Joint Workshop on the 11th Sub-Regional Action Plan on Drugs

PHNOM PENH: Secretary General of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, General Meas Virith has presided over the opening ceremony of the 11th Sub-Regional Action Plan (SAP) Review Workshop on Drugs this Tuesday. Participants are representatives of drug control bodies from the six signatory states of the Greater Mekong Subregion, including Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, China, Thailand and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which is Cambodian-owned.

Speaking on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister Ke Kim Yan, Chairman of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, General Meas Virith, says that the participation of the six signatory countries in the 11th Sub-Regional Plan Review Workshop on drugs is very crucial. it is very substantial for each member country to complement some of the activities that were not in the old plan, which have effectively responded to the strengthening and expansion of drug control cooperation across the board. National, regional and global contexts in the context of Covid 19 as well as in the future.

General Meas Virith also expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to UNODC for its efforts to mobilize financial resources from donor countries to continue the activities of the MOU countries in terms of financial, material and technical resources in the past. The 11th Sub-Regional Action Plan (SAP) review workshop will receive more new input for implementation of strategies for getting ahead of the pandemic crisis.
